Adopt a neutral pose and look bored. If they want you in their lap, don't go. Whatever you do, don't go! Walk away, but only just out of reach. Then, wait until they're busy doing something else and demand their attention immediately!

This is especially effective when they are working on a deadline for their J-O-B!
